Overview

Storm Damage Repair done the way it should be

Storm work attracts the worst actors in this industry. After every significant hail event the Triangle fills with out of state crews who knock doors, promise a free roof, sign homeowners to a contingency agreement and leave before the warranty matters. We are the company still here in five years, which changes how we handle these claims.

Hail damage is genuinely hard to see. The impact bruises the mat underneath the granules, so a roof that looks fine from the driveway can be functionally finished. That cuts both ways: we find damage homeowners did not know they had, and we also tell homeowners with no real damage that they have no real damage.

North Carolina policies generally cover sudden storm damage and exclude wear and age. The practical battleground is documentation, and documentation is where most homeowners lose money on a legitimate claim.

Scope

What Storm Damage Repair Includes

Every line below is in the written scope, not implied by it.

Same day emergency tarping
Stopping active water intrusion first, before anything else is discussed. We keep tarping materials on the truck through storm season.
Full storm damage inspection
Every slope, plus soft metals, gutters, fascia, siding and window wraps, because collateral damage on those surfaces is what proves hail size and direction.
Impact pattern documentation
Test squares marked and photographed to standard, with hit counts per square, which is exactly what an adjuster is trained to look for.
Scope written in adjuster language
Line item scope using the terminology and measurements carriers expect, rather than a one line quote a carrier will discount.
Adjuster meeting on site
We climb the roof with your adjuster and walk the damage together. Claims settle far more accurately when the contractor is present.
Supplement handling
Where the initial settlement misses code required items or hidden damage, we file and document the supplement.
Full restoration
Roof, and where damaged, siding, gutters, wraps and vents, so the property is restored as a whole rather than patched in pieces.
Honest no claim advice
If what you have is age rather than storm, we say so. Filing a claim on an aged roof spends a deductible and puts a claim on your record for nothing.
Diagnosis

When Storm Damage Repair Is The Right Call

  • Dents in gutters, downspouts or vents. Soft metals bruise before shingles do. They are the fastest way to confirm hail actually fell at your address and how big it was.
  • Dark circular bruises on shingles. Hail impact removes granules and bruises the mat beneath. Pressed with a thumb, a fresh hit feels soft like a bruise on fruit.
  • Shingles missing after high wind. Straight line wind and gust fronts lift shingles along a defined edge, usually on the windward slope.
  • Granule accumulation after a storm. A sudden heavy deposit of granules in the gutters after a storm is different from the slow loss of ageing, and adjusters treat it differently.
  • Damaged window screens, wraps or siding. Collateral evidence. It establishes hail direction and size even when the roof reads ambiguously.
  • A neighbour is getting a claim approved. Hail falls in swathes. If a house on your street has an approved claim, your roof was in the same storm and deserves a look.

What we install, and when each one is actually the right answer.

OptionSpecificationWhen it fits
Impact resistant shinglesClass 4 ratedWorth discussing during a storm rebuild. Several carriers discount premiums for a Class 4 roof, which can offset a meaningful part of the upgrade over time.

Full replacement systemsGAF and CertainTeedStorm rebuilds are full system replacements, which is what makes enhanced manufacturer warranties available.
Matching repairsWhere damage is partialNot every storm claim is a full roof. Where a single slope is affected and the shingle is matchable, we scope it that way.

What Storm Damage Repair Costs

On an approved claim your out of pocket cost is normally your deductible. We do not offer to waive, absorb or rebate deductibles, because in North Carolina that is insurance fraud and any contractor who suggests it is telling you what they are willing to do to you later.

ScopeTypical rangeNotes
Emergency tarpingQuoted per projectOften reimbursable under the claim as mitigation
Inspection and claim documentationNo chargeIncluding the adjuster meeting
Approved full replacementYour deductibleCarrier pays the approved scope, typically actual cash value then recoverable depreciation
Class 4 impact resistant upgradeQuoted per projectAbove the approved scope, paid by the homeowner, often premium discounted
Denied claim, paid privatelySee roof replacementWe will re inspect and tell you honestly whether an appeal has merit

Financing. Plans including 0% APR options for qualified homeowners, approved in minutes, with no prepayment penalty. Most customers who finance are replacing ahead of failure rather than after it, which is the cheaper moment to do it.

Questions answered

Storm Damage Repair Questions

Should I file a claim?

Only if the damage is genuinely storm related and the likely scope exceeds your deductible. We inspect first and tell you which situation you are in. Filing a claim on a roof that has simply aged out spends your deductible, risks a denial and puts a claim on your record with nothing to show for it.

Somebody knocked on my door and said I have hail damage. Should I trust them?

Be careful. After every Triangle hail event, storm chasing crews canvass entire neighbourhoods and sign homeowners to contingency agreements on the doorstep. Get an independent inspection from a contractor with a local address and a local phone number before you sign anything at your front door.

How long do I have to file a hail claim?

North Carolina policies commonly require prompt notice, and many carriers apply a filing window measured in months from the date of loss. The evidence also degrades: granule loss and bruising weather over time and become harder to attribute to a specific storm. If you suspect damage, get it documented now even if you do not file immediately.

Will filing a claim raise my premium?

Weather claims are generally treated differently from at fault claims, but carriers do consider claim frequency, and rates across North Carolina have moved broadly in recent years regardless. Your agent can answer this for your specific policy, and it is a reasonable question to ask before filing.

What if my claim is denied?

Denials are frequently about documentation rather than the actual condition of the roof. We re inspect, mark test squares properly, photograph collateral damage on soft metals, and where the evidence supports it we help you request a re inspection. We will also tell you when the denial was correct.

Do you offer to cover my deductible?

No. Deductible waiving, rebating and absorbing is insurance fraud in North Carolina and it exposes the homeowner, not only the contractor. A company willing to defraud your insurer on your behalf is demonstrating exactly how much their word is worth.

Can you tarp my roof tonight?

Usually yes. We run emergency tarping across Wake County and the surrounding counties, and during active storm weeks we staff for it. Call rather than fill in a form if water is coming in now.

Do I have to use the contractor my insurance company recommends?

No. In North Carolina you choose your own contractor. Carrier preferred programmes exist to control the carrier's costs, which is not the same thing as controlling your outcome.
